One of the highlights of my stay in Novi Sad was seeing the collection of Serbian icons in Matica Srpska Gallery. So, that's how I'll start writing about this precious museum, that I visited for the first time. I never imagined that, with the wealth of its collection, this museum would rival the National Museum in Belgrade.

The National Museum of Serbia is the oldest, most important and most prestigious cultural institution in Serbia. Established in 1844, it moved into its current building in 1950.
