The Blue Mosque is one of the most famous Ottoman era structures in Istanbul. Together with Hagia Sophia and the Topkapi Palace, it's forms a nucleus of the most visited touristic area in the city. Additionally, with its six minarets, it represents the magnificence of the Ottoman state of an era in which Sultan Ahmed commissioned its construction.
